In 1997, members of the former Paekakariki Services Club resolved to establish a charitable trust, which was formalised in 1998. The principle purpose of the Trust is to provide financial assistance within the Paekakariki district for charitable purposes. Particular emphasis is to be placed on the following:
The education of children,
Social and physical development of children through school sporting activities at school;
Teaching children to swim,
Surf lifesaving activities, limited to the saving of lives and water safety; and
Recreation facilities for people ‘in need’ due to age, poverty, disablement or infirmity.
To be eligible for funding from the Trust, applications must:
have a charitable or educational purpose; and
benefit the Paekākāriki community or be based within the Paekākāriki district.
Grants are considered by the Trustees, which makes recommendations to Public Trust. As a guide to applicants, a total of $14,000 is available for granting this year.
Applications need to include:
Supporting information such as proposal, budget for the year, copy of quotes etc,
Bank deposit slip for payment of successful grant.
