Last year’s global CrowdStrike outage event provided a valuable lesson in the importance of planning and preparing for tech outages.
Public Trust conducts regular testing to help ensure the technology used to support Corporate Trustee Services (CTS) clients can withstand and quickly recover from adverse events, says Head of Business Development and Custodial Services Nigel Gaudin.
“Public Trust has an active risk management programme considering business continuity planning and disaster recovery frameworks to ensure the technology we rely on to serve our clients will remain operational during unexpected disruptions.”
Last month, as part of a planned enterprise-wide disaster recovery test, Nigel oversaw the testing of CTS’ interconnected systems.
“It’s important we protect our clients by ensuring our team is trained and tested so we’re ready to respond. Regular testing gives us confidence that in a real outage our contingency plans would work as expected.”
Public Trust’s cloud adoption last year has also significantly reduced risk. “We’ve built in redundancy to our systems so that if one system fails, another can take over with minimal downtime. This is critical for maintaining business continuity should an unexpected event happen.”
