The Siga Siga Trust Scholarship is established under a deed of trust settled by a past pupil of Otago Boys’ High School (the late Mr William Eric George Finlayson) and is administered under regulations made pursuant to the trust. Funds to cover the scholarship come from the Siga Siga Trust Fund. “Siga” is intended to represent “sigma iota gamma alpha”. The meaning of the word is “slowly” and, when repeated, “by and by”.
The Siga Siga Trust Scholarship is only available to present or past pupils of Otago Boys’ High School.
Applicants must be New Zealand born or naturalised citizens and be at least 16 years old as at the closing date of applications 30 September 2019. Applicants must be intending to advance their education at Otago Boys’ High School or an appropriate tertiary provider such as, but not limited to, a university, polytechnic or training School. The course of study must be for a minimum of 1 year (full-time) and can be in New Zealand or overseas.
Preference will be given to boys who are: *without one or both parents or *sons of returned servicemen or *able to demonstrate a need for financial assistance.
Funding is available for up to $50,000 per year. Scholarships will be awarded between $3,000 and $15,000 per year for up to 3 years.

Applications must be completed on this application form and submitted with the required supporting documents to the Rector of Otago Boys’ High School by 5pm on 30 September 2019. Please place your application in a sealed envelope marked “Application for Siga Siga Trust Scholarship” and deliver it or post it to 2 Arthur St, Dunedin, 9016. Late applications will not be accepted.
Applicants will be advised the outcome of their application by 31 January 2020.
