This charitable trust was established in 1992 through the will of Emma Agnes Sellars of Invercargill. The trust gives grants for the charitable purpose of relief of poverty in Southland District of New Zealand.
The trust offers grants every two years, being 2019, 2021, 2023 etc. The applications will be open from 1 June to 30 June in each grant year.
The 2019 grant round is open from 1 June to 1 July 2019
For the purposes of the trust, the Southland district is defined as the majority of the land area of the Southland Region. This includes Wallace County, Winton Borough, Stewart Island County and most of Southland County. It also includes the islands of South Foveaux Strait – Solander Islands, Stewart Island/Rakiura and Ruapuke Island.
To be considered for grants, the applicants project must:
Be directed at people who are poor, in need, aged, or suffering genuine hardship.
Individuals, sports organisations and service clubs are not eligible to apply to the trust. The trust does not fund overseas projects.
