The Alfred William Parsons Trust gives grants to charitable bodies and charitable purposes in the area of the Waipukurau District Council east of SH2 and the Makarakeke Stream excluding Waipawa township for the benefit and welfare of youth organisations, education, the welfare of people unable to care for and support themselves, and, community charitable projects.
Individuals, sports organisations and service clubs are not eligible to apply
Grants will not normally be recommended for purposes which are usually the responsibility or subject of Government or local body assistance
Grants will not normally be recommended for sporting bodies as such are not considered a charitable organisation although a grant could be considered where the sporting body was involved with youth activities.
Alfred William Parsons died in July 1953, The Estate of A W Parsons is administered by Public Trust with the main asset being a Sheep and Beef property situated in the Central Hawkes Bay. The Trust was established to provide principally for the income from his estate to be distributed to suitable charitable purposes and charitable bodies. Public Trust is guided by an independent Advisory Committee established under the terms of the Will of the late A W Parsons.
