Why do I need one?
An inheritance trust can be set up to help protect a beneficiary's inheritance for the future.
This trust structure could suit you if you want to keep your assets in your name during your lifetime and protect your beneficiary's interests after you're gone.
An inheritance trust will help your beneficiary enjoy what you leave them, no matter what the future holds.
Why do I need one(continued)?
If you leave an asset to a beneficiary in their own name, and it is combined with or used in such a way that it becomes relationship property, then it could be claimed by their partner in the event of a relationship split.
However if you leave an asset as part of an inheritance trust, the beneficiary will be protected against potential claims on the inheritance, for example under the Property (Relationships) Act (1976), or creditors if they are in business.
