Government guarantee
Public Trust is a Crown entity established under the Public Trust Act 2001.
Capital and interest in the Public Trust Common Fund is guaranteed by the New Zealand Government. The guarantee on capital is provided for in section 52 of the Public Trust Act 2001 and is not time-limited.
The guarantee on interest is provided for under section 65ZD of the Public Finance Act 1989 and is effective until 12 October 2010. The Crown is the guarantor.
